Allison’s Senior Portraits - Sacramento Photographer

Studio Senior Portraits, Sacramento

I absolutely love the work that I do as a Senior Portrait Photographer and on the day that I was able to shoot Allison’s Essential Senior Portrait Session it just confirmed my love for the work I do with high school seniors!

Allison and her family found me when her dad, Michael, participated in one of my specially rated - Headshot Days - the whole family is just too cute and kind! I was so happy when this incredible Sacramento area high school senior reached out to book. We had so much fun working together to create really fun and true to her style looks at her Fashion Consult. One of a several perks when you schedule a Senior Portrait session with me! When you book a senior photoshoot for your senior pictures with me I make sure to get to know you and give you a very true-to-you experience. Like when Allison wrote this on her booking contract: “I am a total art fart!!! For me though my main passions are Musical Theatre and American Sign Language (ASL). I also take voice lessons for fun!!!” we knew that we had an incredible and interesting young person who we could tailor a unique and beautiful portrait session with!

We started off with HMUA from Mai Artistry and shot her first look in my Sacramento Photo Studio. From there we finished off this first look, which we incorporated many jackets into, at one of my favorite secret locations along the American River Parkway in Sacramento. We have an incredible natural backdrop along the river for senior portraits. I just love being a Sacramento Photographer because of the many natural and urban backdrops we have to choose from for our photo sessions with clients.

Allison and her mom look so sweet in their pictures together, I just had to include them since they were part of Allison’s favorite moments of her big day. <3

Each portrait session lasts about 4-6 hours (including your HMUA and travel times) and we ended our day with a bonus look back at my photo studio. You would not be able to tell that she had been slaying for 5 hours straight in those final images! It is hard for me to choose a favorite image or look because Allison absolutely rocked each one! She was so free and positive! I just had the best time with her and her mom during her Senior Pictures session. Please scroll through and read up on what Allison had to say about her experience.

Now don’t be shy, if you have any questions about sessions or want to book with us, give us a message!

1. What made you choose Lacey M Carroll as your photographer for your Essential Senior Session?

What made us choose Lacey M Carroll as my photographer for my Essential Senior session was the fact that my dad did his professional work portrait through her too!!!!

2. What did you envision your photoshoot would be like?

I envisioned my photoshoot being more restricted when it came to poses. Instead though it turned out very freeing and I could just be myself when doing poses and I love that it was tailored more towards the Senior than towards what the photographer wants (as if you were getting normal school photos).

3. Which look turned out to be your favorite?

The look that turned out to be my favorite was the one where I’m wearing a jean jacket, with a light blue top underneath, with jeans, and my knock off docs.

4. What was your favorite moment of the photoshoot?

My favorite moment of the photo shoot was definitely any time where I got to take pictures with my mom.

5. Was there anything you'd do differently if you got to do the photoshoot again?

The only thing I’d do differently is have my dad come along so that I could get some photos with him and the three of us too because family means everything to me.

6. Anything you'd like to be included in the blog post about you and your experience? Like your IG or any further education about Tourettes?

Something I would love to include about Tourette’s syndrome is the fact that it’s a neurological condition in which a person can’t control their movements (motor tics) or outburst of noises (vocal tics). It’s also a condition where not everyone has the same level of severity, basically some have it worse than others and that each person with Tourette’s is going to have a different experience. Like anything Tourette’s is unique to that person, it’s not the same for everyone. Also it’s not a “cursing disease” and only 10% of the Tourette’s community have coprolalia, which is the name for tics that use profanity or inappropriate language and gestures. People with Tourette’s also don’t always tic every few moments, some days we don’t really tic at all!!!! Lastly if you see someone with Tourette’s out in public, treat them like you would any other normal human being, be respectful, don’t stare, don’t mimic their tics, if you have a question please be respectful about asking, and most importantly don’t try to trigger us to tic more because it’s exhausting and uncomfortable already because we don’t have control over it, so please don’t make it worse. Again we are like anyone else and want to be treated like the human beings that we are and not the Tourette’s syndrome that we have.

7. Any advice you'd want to give incoming Seniors who are getting their Senior Portraits done?

To all the incoming Seniors getting their photos done, just be true to who you are, have fun with your photos, and lastly breath when getting the photos done because they look more natural and bring out all of the amazing things about you!!!!
