Mya’s Senior Couture Session in Old Folsom
I can’t believe Mya will be graduating alongside the Class of 2025. I first met Mya and her mom, Jencie during her Freshman year of high school in Elk Grove. She has been on the team the last two years and she has been a shining light that has filled every image and team photoshoot with laughter and kindness. She is so involved at school and with her extracurriculars, is the oldest daughter in the family, and is a working model who has been published in many magazines since working with Lacey M. Carroll Photography. She had big goals for her Senior Couture Session all started at her Fashion Consult when she tried on this Sherri Hill gown! You may have recognized this dress right away because another Senior Squad member, Alexis wore it for her Senior Session too. I have this gown in TWO sizes and each girl fit perfectly into the dress of their size. It was meant to be. :)
Like every Fashion Consult, the locations were decided based on the outfits chosen and we agreed that we wanted this stunning Sherri Hill gown to have a natural background so we went with one of my favorite locations along the American River Parkway here in Rancho Cordova. Be sure to bring exact change if you’re heading into the recreation area as they do not have gate attendants there to give you change! This day was STUNNING! The lighting was perfect, her hair by Heather Grabin and makeup by Mai Artistry were perfect, her ideas and focus were on point. We had a fantastic time frolicking around the late Summer foliage along the American River and then headed up to Historic Folsom for Mya’s next two looks. Mya went all out for her Senior Session going for our Couture Session and opting for 3HMUA, meaning she got three hairstyles and three makeup looks throughout the shoot. Heather and Mai were with us every step of the way. All of our photoshoots are customizable so if you wanted a couture session but only 1HMUA we can do that! It’s up to you how you want your session to go!
When Mya chose these orange heels with orange feathers for her second look in a dark wash denim jumpsuit I KNEW we had to stop by the historic train cars in Old Folsom. The team and I set up some fun flowers to frame Mya and we got some magazine worthy images from this set (honestly every outfit!).
We ended the day by heading up and down Sutter St. in historic Folsom with Mya in her velvet green dress. The Folsom Hotel and her were matching so we stopped there to put my green thumb to use. :) We ended in a bookshop where she picked out some of her favorite books like the Dork Diaries. **If you are going to do a photoshoot inside of a business please be respectful and mindful of your surrounds and other patrons. I always suggest checking if there is a fee or a permit needed to take photos in the space you are occupying. You can read about more tips in our Top 10 Photoshoot Locations In Sacramento blog we did a few months back!
Scroll down to read about how Jencie and her daughter Mya felt about their photoshoot experience. We love you gals and are so so gratful that you’re a part of the LMCP Senior Squad family. <3 Congratulations to the Class of 2025. <3
1. What made you choose Lacey M. Carroll as your photographer for your Senior Couture Session?
Mom: We were lucky enough to be introduced to Lacey when Mya was a freshman, so there was no doubt she would capture her senior portraits!
Mya: I chose Lacey for my Senior Couture Session because her pictures are amazing!!! She knows how to make you feel comfortable and confident when in front of the camera. Every picture she has taken of me has always turned out beyond amazing.
2. What did you envision your photoshoot would be like?
Mom: I really wanted to have senior portraits that captured Mya in all her current beauty, with the influence of nostalgia for her childhood and dreams of her big bright future.
Mya: I envisioned my photoshoot to convey beauty, confidence, and intelligence.
3. Which look turned out to be your favorite?
Mom: How do I choose?!?! After seeing her gallery, I told Lacey, "I need more walls!" I can say that I loved how Lacey knew what location to shoot that would compliment every look.
Mya: My favorite look was the train pictures!! They were beyond beautiful and I felt so confident in my skin.
4. What was your favorite moment of the photoshoot?
Mom: I have two. The first was shooting in the middle of the road in the ball gown. The imagery of Mya heading on her path to her future is beautiful and heart-wrenching in the best way. The second was the train. Mya was so happy and comfortable, which is shown in the images!
Mya: My favorite moments are always when Lacey gets so excited and shows me a shot on the back of the camera, giving me a sneak peek, and then we are both excited!
5. Was there anything you'd do differently if you got to do the photoshoot again?
Mom: Initially, the sunrise timing was a bit of a regret, but once Mya was in the hair and makeup chair, the energy surrounding us was the best cup of coffee! While it was hard to get up and glamorous that early, the team made it fun, and it was great to have beautiful lighting, we finished with 3 looks around noon!
Mya: I would not do anything differently. I LOVED my photoshoot and had the BEST time!!
6. Anything you'd like to be included in the blog post about you and your experience?
Thank you so much!
Mom: I am so grateful Lacey has come into our lives. She is a phenomenal person and an amazing artist. I have four more kids after Mya, and I cannot wait for her to capture each of them!
Mya: Thank you, Lacey for these awesome 3-4 years!!! I can't believe how fast it went by. You have truly inspired me.
7. How has being on TeamLMCP impacted you?
Mom: I have loved seeing Mya's confidence soar!
Mya: Being on Team LMCP positively impacted my life because I have found a true love for modeling. My time on this team has helped me feel confident and strong.
8. Any advice you'd give any incoming Seniors wanting to join LMCP Senior Squad?
Mom: Do it!
Mya: My advice is just to work it and own it!! You are truly beautiful inside and out, and Lacey's pictures will show you how truly amazing YOU are!
