What’s It Like Traveling with LMCP?

The creative team flying into Palm Springs and us flying home to Sacramento, thanks to the folks at South West Airlines for a effortless trip!

Come along with us as we recap a bit of what it’s like behind the scenes on a Lacey M. Carroll Photography Destination photoshoot.

One of the most fun parts of running a small business is getting to plan destination photoshoots with my senior model teams and my creative team! I am lucky enough to work closely with a strong, talented, and FUN creative team who also happen to be some of my closest friends.

We were lucky enough to get into our AirBnb, The Green Parakeet house, a day early so that we could location scout spots around the city of Palm Springs and in Joshua Tree National Park. I had my office manager, Michelle and my close friend/hairstylist/HMUA for most of my photoshoots, Heather join on this destination photoshoot so that we could have a fun photoshoot at the end with all of us. I wanted to show you all that when you a part of a photoshoot there is so much that goes into the planning AND execution of the shoot. We spent our first day location scouting and organizing the Airbnb for the model team and their parents. We had timelines and shot lists, accessories, and travel time estimations ready to go so that on the days of the shoots we were as prepared as possible. With that , I would love to do a round up of all the wonderful places we stopped in along the way:

Cafe La Jefa - a funky and delicious coffeeshop!

bobo Designs - a curated selection of artisan stationery goods from women-of-color-owned brands, queer-owned brands, our favorite writing tools, and rare goods from Japan!

The Pink Cabana - the Pink Cabana at Sands Hotel & Spa is a fresh, modern take on the great Tennis and Racquet Clubs of the 50’s and 60’s in Palm Springs

Sherman’s Bakery & Deli - A Palm Springs institution. NY style Deli family owned and operated by two generations. INCREDIBLE FOOD AND DESSERTS!!!

4 Paws Coffe Co. - Family owned coffee shop that donates a portion of every sale to local animal shelters. (Good coffee and a great cause!)

Gelato Granucci - Artisan gelato made onsite. Need we say more.

Inka Peruvian Cuisine - Traditional flavors and nuances of Peru in the heart of Palm Springs nightlife.

Farm - Lacey’s MUST GO place! The experience at Farm is like being transported to the South of France.

We also thrifted a few pieces from Angel View Resale AND their Jackie Lee’s Boutique next door. A must stop if you are thifting in the area!

A double candid picture moment from our scouting in Joshua Tree. We chose a spot a bit further into the park, you can check out the location in our LMCP Team blog post here.

On our final day, we decided to do our own special photoshoot in the same places around Palm Springs that we took our teen models! Special shout out to LMC Style Closet and Audacious Plus boutique in Sacramento. We were able to style three looks that complimented each other. Lacey, as usual, made sure to give Heather and Michelle posing tips and ideas for each shot like exhale, keep moving, and avoid flat feet!

We just HAD to include a few group shots from the weekend. Here you can see us all celebrating after our sunset outdoor editorial photoshoot in the heart of Joshua Tree National Park. We had a boho meets coastal cowgirl festival style for our Joshua Tree location and a retro tropical vacation style for our lifestyle shots around Palm Springs on the second day. We just had to get a pic with Sabrey, one of our seniors of the class of 2024, because we all had our LMCP t-shirts on. Twinsies!

The ladies outside of the Saguaro Hotel. The colorful details and retro lines were the inspiration for our outfits.

Palm Springs BTS between photoshoots hanging out, location scouting, and enjoying meals together. Locations were tagged above!

Palm Springs Destination Photoshoot - Meet The Creative Team

Our final day photoshoot, brunch at Farm, and post brunch group shot. There was a woman who walked past us and asked if she could take our picture because we all looked so nice and we shouldn’t waste looking so fashionable. :) We love a girls girl! It’s never too late to dress up and plan of photoshoot with your friends. Take is from us at Lacey M. Carroll Photography.
