Ava’s Custom Sacramento Photoshoot

Ava and her mom Allison have been getting tween/teen sessions with me for three years now! This incredibly funny, professional, and smart teen and her equally as wonderful mama are always so wonderful to work with. Allison is a small business owner running Elite Studio Of Dance in Elk Grove. Several of my former LMCP Team members have been a part of her studio and it was such a treat to start working with her and Ava. She always has a fun detail that she wants in her shoots. This time around she wanted something sweet for one of her looks. Can’t wait until you scroll down to see what I mean. :)

Because of the extreme heat we get in Sacramento, CA we start the day EARLY, like sunrise early. That way we can get our HMUA done, our model in their outfit, and to our outdoor locations before temperatures get unbearable. We started off by heading to a couple beautiful locations that are very close to my Sacramento photo studio. I love finding hidden gems around the greater Sacramento area for unique photoshoots and when it is under a five minute drive from the studio it’s even better! The American River Parkway is close by and is a very popular spot with clients. On this particular day we got such amazing shots near Brookfield Restaurant that we didn’t even need to head to the river access in Rancho Cordova!

Hair and makeup was done by the always incredible Mai Artistry. She and Ava have been working together since her first shoot with me. So it’s become a tradition that Mai is her artist at her photoshoots. Once we did her romantic ruffled gown outdoors, we headed back into the studio for her other two looks….

Ava had a sweet idea of using candy in her shoot. Fun fact this isn’t actual candy, it’s clay sprinkles!!! This was a fun find on Amazon because that meant there wouldn’t be any color transfer, they wouldn’t get sticky, and they wouldn’t break! I created a box that Ava could lay in that also had clay sprinkles. It was an homage to our first photoshoot with her. You can see the comparison below. We also got to shoot with her “little sister” Jersey! This has become a fun tradition to do a bff shoot with her sweet god, Jersey. You can see below how each girl has grown. I am so excited to continue to take portraits for Ava and her mom throughout her high school years. Looking forward to comparing our first shoot to her Senior Session. It means so much when clients continue to book with me because it is not an easy time to be a small business. Having creative and kind clients like Ava and Allison make the hard work worth it.

May we all be blessed to have incredible, talented, hard working clients who are consistent in their support.
