Sacramento Senior Outdoor Summer Photoshoot!

Kicking off the Class of 2025 Senior season with Alexis!

Alexis is a dedicated high school senior, athlete, and space club president who wanted to step into their confidence again after recovering from a surgery that kept her off her feet and on a hiatus from her usual eclectic high school life. She is back baby!! Class of 2025 the forecast is looking golden! Just like how Alexis was feeling during her Senior Couture Session. On a very lovely day, just after a heatwave we began Alexis and her dad, Steve’s journey before sunrise. They were joined by Mai Artistry at my Senior Portrait studio, here in Sacramento, California. Yes, during the summer in Sacramento it’s best to get an early start. 1) You’ll look better when you’re not overheating 2) It’s safer for my clients, myself and my professional team of hair and makeup artists that join along some times. 3) It doesn’t hurt that early morning sunlight is absolutely gorgeous and was giving Alexis an angelic glow during her first of three looks for her photoshoot.

The Capitol Mall area of downtown Sacramento has so many great photoshoot spots for your senior session backdrops. For this Cinderella inspired Sherri Hill gown we chose the Rose Garden and lavender garden to accentuate the romantic and royal vibes of this dress. Alexis looked radiant and confident for the start of her Senior Portrait Session. For her second look we traveled over to the Safe Credit Union Performing Arts Center because I love the various angles and shadows that the Modern architecture provides, especially in the morning hours! We also incorporated a special scarf that Alexis wore in a family portrait session she did years ago! Adding personal touches like this are SO important for Senior Pictures!

After that, we headed to the north side of the K Street mall in downtown Sacramento. A lively hub of shops, restaurants, churches, and apartment buildings that encapsulates what city living can be! We changed into Alexis’s third look, which was closer to her every day wardrobe. What I love about her third look is that the tank and jeans can become multiple styles based off what jacket you put on top. I LOVE the image of Alexis against the red tile from outside the IMax theater. Which image or outfit if your favorite? Let us know in the comments below! Keep scrolling to read how Alexis and her dad, Steve felt about their experience.

1. What made you choose Lacey M Carroll as your photographer as your Senior Portrait Photographer?

Dad: We had seen some of Lacey's work and were thoroughly impressed with the quality and results.  Everything from the photoshoot locations, wardrobe options, and hair and makeup design exceeded our expectations.

Alexis:  We know people who have gone through Lacey for photos and we liked her work, so it was a good choice. The impression that was made definitely stuck and we became interested and applied.

2. What did you envision your photoshoot would be like?

Dad: As a dad helping out on the day of the photoshoot, I was completely unsure about what the day would hold.  It was the best!  Lacey and Mai (our HMUA ) made me feel at ease and connected with us - the session was so much fun!  I was glad to spend the day with my daughter before she started her Senior Year in High School; we laughed, joked around, and strutted around Capitol Mall and K Street having the best time.

Alexis: I knew it was going to be a long and hot day but I didn’t know what to expect. I was glad when we arrived and it was a super fun time! We had a great time, like what my dad said, joking around and laughing. It was a bunch of fun and I can’t wait to see the final photos.

3. Which look turned out to be your favorite?

Dad: It's tough to say!  There are so many great options to choose from, and a variety of wardrobe changes, locations and styles.  Based on the samples I've seen, my sense is that my favorite looks will be those that capture Alexis' authentic self: jovial, spirited and reflective.

Alexis: I think my favorite was the one with the jean skirt and light pink top with the heels. I really enjoyed the others though. I had a great time and I’m really excited to see how they all turned out.

4. What was your favorite moment of the photoshoot?

Dad: When Lacey asked me to take part in the shoot - I was totally not expecting that!  This, combined with Lacey wanting me to whisper something to Alexis - which really got her to laugh - was the best.

Alexis: Definitely having fun with my dad but also all the photos that we got to take. I really had fun just walking around and talking and changing the outfits.

5. Was there anything you'd do differently if you got to do the photoshoot again?

Dad: I can't think of anything I would specifically change: each moment brought something to the session.  Whether we were needing to get up at 3am to get to the shoot on time, wearing leather when it was going to be 100+ degrees, witnessing the skill and talent of Lacey and Mai, or watching a robot on Capitol Mall make us an iced latte, we'll share memories for a long time.

Alexis: Like my dad said I can’t think of anything except the weather. Even if we had to get there at 3 am it was still definitely worth it.

6. Anything you'd like to be included in the blog post about you and your experience?

Dad: For the Dads out there, these sessions are for you, too.  Go and have a good time.

Alexis: Even if you’re nervous or uncomfortable you don’t need to worry about a thing and you’ll have tons of fun!

7. What was your inspiration to become a member of Team LMCP?

Alexis: When I first saw your work I knew it was something that I wanted to do. I saw how others were having fun and I talked to people who have worked with you before and heard about their experiences. I definitely wanted to choose this path and be apart of your team.

We LOVED having you and your dad at your Senior Session, Alexis! I loved so many images from your shoot I had to add more below. Check out some outtakes and some collages of my favorite looks from your session below.

xoxo,

LMCP
