Kara’s Senior Portraits in Sacramento |Lacey M. Carroll Photography
Let’s Go Class of 2023!
Cannot believe all the seniors are well into their final semester of their High School lives!!! I love being a Senior Portrait Photographer in Sacramento. I get to meet so many wonderful and bright people who have their whole lives ahead of them. Getting to work with Kara and her amazing mom Kathi was just another example of the stellar kind of humans we have in Sacramento.
“ I've never had good pictures of myself. I want to feel good, pretty, confident. I like the fairy/nature vibe. This has been a tough few years, and I would just like pictures that reflect who I am.” - From her Initial photoshoot questionnaire.
Kara is quite the Senior! I wanted to make her Essential Senior Portrait experience with me something she would come out of feeling confident and loving her experience more than she thought she would. Happy to report we did the dang thing and made each step of the way fun and safe for her to express herself and become more confident and know that she is beautiful inside and out! We added a bonus sports look to her photoshoot because SHE’S ON THE WRESTLING TEAM!!!! I was really looking forward to photographing Kara for her Sports Add-on because I’ve never worked with a wrestler before! I’ve done photoshoots with dancers, soccer players, golfers, volleyball players, swimmers and more... but wrestling? I couldn’t wait to “take it to the mat” for her and see what I could create!
We had an amazing team of Hair and Makeup Professionals working with us on this day. Heather Grabin worked on Kara’s hair and Sara Garcia did her flawless makeup. I appreciate these two women so much! Their talent is always a gift on Senior Portrait Session days. Cannot wait for you to scroll through these beautiful images of this stunning Sacramento Senior. 1. What made you choose Lacey M Carroll as your photographer for your Essential Senior Session?
I had seen Lacey’s amazing work with a friend of mine who is on her Teen Team and thought she would be perfect and give me an amazing senior session experience. The settings, locations, and outfits were like nothing I had seen before. Luckily, my mom knew how much I wanted a photo session with Lacey and they made it happen.
2. What did you envision your photoshoot would be like?
I had only had school pictures taken before and never liked how I looked in them. I had no idea how it would go but I envisioned the photoshoot would make me feel amazing and it did. Every step of the process was very fun and unique. As I started getting my inspiration boards together I got more and more excited for the actual day.
3. Which look turned out to be your favorite?
I loved the gold dress! (photos above!) It was a last-minute addition and had just come in the mail and Lacey suggested I try it on. I didn’t think it would be my favorite but when I saw the pictures I was in love with it!
4. What was your favorite moment of the photoshoot?
Lacey slipping in the mud and catching her camera with one hand so it didn’t drop on the ground! That was some skill right there. Other than that, when the photo shoot first started and Lacey asked me to look at my pictures and see myself how she was seeing me through the lens. I felt instantly comfortable and beautiful.
5. Was there anything you'd do differently if you got to do the photoshoot again?
It was absolutely perfect and went better than I could have ever imagined. I would probably opt for more hair and makeup looks to go with the different outfits. That would have been fun!
6. Anything you'd like to be included in the blog post about you and your experience?
I felt so special throughout this entire process and loved every single one of my pictures. I never thought I would have so many pictures of myself that I am proud of and make me smile when I look at them. Also, being able to take my wrestling pictures and have them look so amazing compared to school/club pictures was an incredible bonus.
Not knowing what to expect made every part of this journey a gift; like when I got my hair and makeup done by Heather and Sara and saw that result I felt incredible. Then putting on my first outfit and seeing the look come together it felt like a fairytale come true.
I feel like I am a part of the LMCP family now and look forward to more photo shoots in the future!
