Senior Portraits, Editorial Style, Sacramento
I can say without a doubt I am Team Jazlyn. :) This incredible high school senior joined my Teen Team LMCP in 2021 and I have had the honor of mentoring this incredible girl ever since! She is so kind and thoughtful seeming to know when positive affirmations need to be shared. She has been very busy with life and her health and was unable to officially be on this year’s Senior Squad but we love her just the same! I have loved every photoshoot we have done from our first Teen Essential Session, to San Luis Obisbo, to our Team LMCP shoots! It’s never a dull day when Jazlyn is there, she’s like a ray of sunshine personified. Her Teen session is and was exactly like what one of our fully customizable Senior Sessions is like.
The images from this blog post are from our final solo photoshoot we did together! Our HMUA team made sure to accentuate and highlight the incredible natural beauty that is Jazlyn. With all of my clients and encourage y’all to keep your HMU (that’s Hair and Make-up) as natural and most like your everyday as possible. When we upgrade to a Senior Couture session I recommend more than one make up look so that we can explore various personas and looks for you! The incredible team of Heather Grabin on hair and Sara Garcia on makeup ensured that Jazlyn and her mom Rebecca felt included, safe, and gorgeous!
We started off her Teen Couture Session by heading into Downtown Sacramento with her casual chic Outfit. During the late spring through summer and let’s face it- through Fall I like to head to our location for photoshoots first so we can avoid as much of the sweltering heat as possible. This photoshoot day was definitely one of those days. :) Ahhh, the lovely life of a Sacramento Senior and teen portrait photographer. I book about three months in advance and love to remind any future clients that if you book doing the Summer we WILL be starting before the sun rises to ensure that we are all safe and out of the intense Sacramento heat as early as possible. Book in advance and know that we have a well thought out and easy plan to follow!
If you’re a Sacramento photographer who loves to scout for cool and funky locations like this let me know if you find anymore great walls full of graffiti art like from above and one of my favorite Downtown Sacramento locations in the Sacramento area! I love having a list of hidden gems I can take clients to and I gladly share some of mine with fellow Senior Portrait photographers.
Can we please take a moment to obsess over Jazlyn’s amazing taste in fashion?! These three high fashion, magazine worthy styles are AMAZING!
We then moved to my professional photo studio in Sacramento for her final look . I loved the continuation of 90’s inspired fashion we had going on for her Posh Teen session. With all Senior photoshoots and teen photoshoots I have a Fashion Consult where you choose what three looks you want for your shoot. It’s a collaborative and exciting process that has you in mind the entire time! This final look from my LMCP Style Closet revolved around this vintage Escada blazer. If you’re a photographer in the US you can look through my closet and rent items to use in your photoshoots, check out all the info you’d need to do so at this link here!
Heather meticulously worked on Jazlyn’s edges and made sure to celebrate her natural curls and length for this final editorial outfit. I took some fun and dynamic snapshots of Jazlyn in her “covergirl look” in front of my black backdrop. The lighting along with her chic black outfit gives the covergirl fashion spread vibes that I knew we could achieve. I loved how they turned out. Jazlyn is an incredible model with an array of posing that she effortlessly moved through. I am always giving helpful tips and ideas for how to pose your body and when to breathe! (Being a mouth breather at my photoshoots is encouraged!)
This Editorial look had so much attitude and glamour and Jazlyn was really loving the way she felt in this look. You can tell how much fun she was having working her angles and accessories here!
Jazlyn had the opportunity to come with me to the 2021 and 2022 Snapshot Conference to model for photographers from all over the country. It’s a really great educational event for the senior photographers and models alike. I’ve been able to attend as an educator for several years now and love giving my models and senior photographers the opportunity to learn how to work with many different kinds of people. If you become a member of my Senior Squad you have the opportunity to model at a number of photography conferences.
I often look back on past photoshoots and this is one I come back to when I want some editorial inspo. She looks magical and elegant and These Vogue level editorial images are some of my favorites of Jazlyn. Ever. :)
I love what I do so much because it connects me to good people like Jazlyn and her mom Rebecca. We had many opportunities to create photoshoots together and I cannot wait to see her modeling skills grow as she moves with grace through her high school years.
