Golden Hour Picnic Photoshoot in Sacramento

If you are curious about how to build a model team then this blog post is for you!

When the weather is so lovely why not get your team out to the park for a glam picnic! Soft fabrics, florals, silks, lawn games, and lace could all become dynamic details that your models can interact with.

In October, yes Sacramento is beautiful literally all year round, the team headed to one of their first full team photoshoots. I wanted this picnic to be whimsical, cottage core, and fun. Luxury Popup Picnics created this amazing set up! The details were so beautiful! Little sweets, teas, charcuterie boards, tarts, lawn games! There was so much to choose from. I’m so grateful to have worked with them on this day! It also happened to be a very popular place for pictures on this exact night. Homecoming Dance Goers and their parents flocked to the same location our picnic set up was! These edits took me DAYS! haha I would highly suggest you spend and extra few minutes googling if there are any local events happening in the area you are going to host your photoshoot at. The team loved seeing their peers do the ceremonial Homecoming group photos before heading off to their fun night of dancing and high school traditions.

I did not have professional HMUA for this photoshoot, in fact many of our group photoshoots do not have HMUA (that’s hair and makeup artists). I do, however, provide a detailed Pinterest Board with hair inspo, make up inspo, outfit inspo, and all over vibe of the shoot. This board along with multiple reminder emails and fittings to style looks from the LMC Style Closet creates an understanding from the whole team and their parents of what to expect on the day of.

I loved hoe many different options of posing and settings I could do with the wonderful picnic that Luxury Popup Picnics helped create for us.

I like to start with some smaller groups and pairs to help warm the team up. Teens need some time to get comfortable and this helps them interact with their fellow team members and cheer each other on before their individual block of time on set. We created this delicious sparkling strawberry lemonade with mint to accompany the wonderful picnic foods we had.

The main focus of all of my photoshoots is to have fun, to empower my clients, and to accentuate the wonderful spirits within everyone I snap an image of. I hope this blog gives you some insight on how to create your own golden hour picnic photoshoot in the future.

Tag me with your inspo on Instagram! If you see these images and want to book a Teen Portraits or Senior Portraits Session let me know!
