Sacramento Teen Session |Couture For A Cause
I had the pleasure of photographing this amazing and bright young person, Cailtin. It amazes me that she is in 8th grade. She is poised and confident and determined to make the world we live in a better place! Even the intention of her Teen Couture Session was to use these images to use for posts with messages in support of her "three E's" (as they like to call them): Environmental, Education, and Equality. Their vision was so grand they opted to pay for additional clothing looks. :)
Anne, her mom was so great the whole day and preparation process. I appreciated so much the amount of info she gave me from her “getting to know you questionnaire” all of my clients fill out. We do fashion consults and pintrest look inspos from hair and make up to the styles I have in the LMC Style Closet. The plan was solid going into these sessions because of the information she initially give me.
The way Caitlin’s skin and hair look against the backdrops at my photo studio in Sacramento gives me life! I love the earth tones in those images!
Caitlin has been dancing since she was a toddler, and this is her lucky 7th year as a competitive dancer, performing solos in musical theatre and tap genres. She loves competing in tap, hip hop, jazz, and lyrical; and training studiously in ballet (she's on pointe). She also does musical theatre, having played lead roles such as the Genie in Aladdin, Ms. Hannigan in Annie, and Adelaide in Guys and Dolls; and in a prominent audition-only local threatre company she's played the villain Muse Melpomene in Xanadu the musical (parody of the 80's movie), Race the Newsie in Newsies (lead on the song "King of New York"), and Cassie in 13 the musical (lead on the song "Brand New You").
She swims competitively for her local swim club, and has been voluntarily junior-coaching the 8 & under group of swimmers (including those as young as 4 and brand new to swimming!).
Heather Grabin and Sara Garcia were our fantastic beauty crew! Heather accentuated Caitlin’s natural curls and gave them bounce and shine that I really loved o photograph! Sara gave Caitlin the perfect natural look that she was able to rock the whole day! I love working with these women because they always bring their beauty A-game!
Caitlin has also been in Girl Scouts for years, leading several prominent service projects in the community. Finally, Caitlin ran birthday fundraisers for five years, electing to raise funds for various charities each year in lieu of receiving gifts. The impact Caitlin has had on her community even at such a young age is amazing. I’m inspired by her generosity.
She’s now an ambassador for non-profits like 4Ocean.com: 4Ocean retails bracelets for which the materials are environmentally- and socially responsibly sourced. 4Ocean has cleanup divisions in Florida, Bali, Haiti, and Guatemala, and recovers millions of pounds of trash from the ocean, rivers, and coastlines every year. They even have a “Clean Ocean Club” where you receive a new limited edition bracelet that raises awareness about an animal or ecosystem impacted by plastic pollution. Use code “CAITLINM10” for a discount!
Caitlin loves to shop and some of her favorites are Tilly’s, Hollister, and H&M (for dance, Five Dancewear and Tiger Friday)... But also branching out to support more sustainable clothing brands like United by Blue, and clothing by companies that donate to causes, such as North Face, National Geographic, and Sierra Club. It’s important to consider these types of things as a consumer these days and I love how what a company does matters to Caitlin.
The look we did in from of these blooming bushes was my favorite! She looks like she could be mother nature as a teen. lol
Getting to connect with and photograph this impressive teen was the highlight of my Women's History Month.
